Scottish Manufacturers are demonstrating that they are not allowing the current economic climate to interfere with their exhibition marketing plans this Spring. To date around 60% of the available space at the forthcoming Aviemore Trade Show has been secured, with further bookings in the pipeline.
The Aviemore Trade Show is a three day trade only event, for buyers to meet Scottish makers in the art, craft and gift sectors. It is the only show which guarantees the buyer that everything they see is made in Scotland. Unlike other trade shows which include goods produced overseas – this is why there is strong support from exhibitors, and this year the majority of those booking say that they will not be exhibiting at any other Scottish trade show.
Gail Steele, exhibition organiser, says "It's a great show of confidence, especially at the present time with all the doom and gloom relating to business. Scottish art, craft and gift makers have wonderful product portfolios which are very attractive to buyers the world over, exhibiting they increase the opportunities of getting Scottish-made items showcased worldwide…"
Ms Steele continues "Anyone considering taking space needs to contact us very soon. Traditionally the next few weeks are the busiest for bookings, so if anyone is thinking about participating they really need to contact me sooner rather than later, to be sure of securing their first choice position."
This is the show’s third year, and it has proved that it is ideally timed for buyers to place orders for the summer season and onwards. Holding the show at the end of April means that buyers have a clearer vision of stocks after the Easter rush.
Amongst the organisations who have already booked is a group stand from Creative Fife - 'a collective identity for all of Fife’s Creative Industries. Independently led and formed by a group representing the wide spectrum of the sector, its aims are to encourage and support creative businesses of all sizes in their development.'
Other exhibitors include Sheila Fleet Jewellery, Ness Soaps, Nicolson Maps, Durness Stone Craft, Victor James Confectionery, Island Porcelain Ltd – all exhibitors can be viewed at http://www.aviemoretradeshow.co.uk/exlist.html
Buyers worldwide usually attend the event, and this year with favourable exchange rates it is anticipated that the show will draw in even more visitors from the USA and Europe.
The buyer profile is varied from large and small outlets, to large (household name) stores, visitor attractions and corporate gift executives. Pre-registration for buyers will be available on-line from the 1 February at http://www.aviemoretradeshow.co.uk/buyers.html
(special rates have been negotiated for accommodation).
In addition, after hours events have been organised in order for buyers and sellers to 'network'.
With the world’s eye on Scotland with the Homecoming Scotland 2009 programme celebrating the 250th anniversary of Robert Burn’s birth, Scottish contributions to golf and whisky, plus great minds, innovation, rich culture and heritage, it is anticipated that demand will be high for Scottish-made items.
Finally, Gail Steele comments, "The Aviemore Trade Show is THE show for anyone looking for Scottish-made goods - and it's a great time of year to be in the Highlands.
